Many New Englanders will tell you that fall is their favorite season. From beautiful foliage to to great outdoor activities, there’s plenty to love about autumn, especially in Newport! Who doesn’t love perfect weather days and cool nights, cozy sweaters and long walks, hot cider and pumpkins in the orchard? Newport is full of fun, fear, and food this month; read on to find out why.

Hayrides – Weekends in October

Head to Pachet Brook Tree Farm, a 90-acre family-run farm in Tiverton, for a 30-minute hayride through the fields and woods decorated for the season, ending at the pumpkin patch.Hayrides are also offered at Escobar’s Highland Farm in Middletown.

Pumpkin Palooza – October 12th

Looking for a perfect fall day? This will be a day filled with Giant pumpkins, food trucks, free corn mazes, family fun and more at Frerichs Farm in Warren for their annual Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off. Ride the Magic Pumpkin Coach, make your own scarecrow, stroll the mum fields, choose your own pumpkin and so much more. More details!

Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival – October 19 – 20, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Honoring the “Harvest of the Sea,” the Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival offers fresh, local seafood. Contains fish tacos, lobster rolls, stuffies, chowder, fried calamari, and more amazing fish with live music and tents! All info!

Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run – Sunday, October 20th

Once a year, pedestrians and runners are allowed to cross the Pell Bridge on foot during the Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run. Open to both runners and walkers, the run is nearly a four-mile excursion from Jamestown to Newport. More info!

Menagerie at the Mansion – Friday, October 25th

Step inside Newport’s most iconic mansion for an evening of mystery and intrigue this Halloween. Celebrate Fall’s most convivial holiday at The Vanderbilt with Menagerie at the Mansion, an ode to Lady Caroline Astor’s lavish New York City fêtes in the 1800s. Should be such a fancy spooky time! Newport International Boat Show – September 12, 2024 – September 15, 2024

The Newport International Boat Show encompasses 13 acres of historic Newport Harbor allowing you to enjoy everything the City-by-the-Sea has to offer while experiencing a full range of powerboats and sailboats from both domestic and international companies. It is such a beautiful site to see, especially for boat lovers!

Joyful July


Here at the Admiral Fitzroy Inn, we are in full summer mode.  We had such a fun time kicking off summer with our guests, family and friends, sitting around the firepit on our roof top deck, viewing Newport’s fabulous display of fireworks.  We invite you to join us this month to take advantage of the beautiful gardens and spectacular sunsets from our roof deck, all while being nestled in downtown Newport where you are within walking distance of most attractions.  There is so much happening here in Newport and we can’t wait for you to visit!  

The Great Elephant Migration, Newport – July 4 to September 7, 2024

The Great Elephant Migration is an outdoor art exhibition presented by Elephant Family USA in collaboration with Dodie Kazanjian of Art&Newport and various contemporary artists. It promotes human-wildlife coexistence as a solution to biodiversity loss. They are at Salve Regina University, Rough Point, The Breakers, and Great Friends Meeting House

Each elephant is available for purchase through The Great Elephant Migration website, www.thegreatelephantmigration.org. Funds raised from sales will benefit non-governmental organizations performing conservation work around the world.

Edible Wild Plant Walk – July 18, 2024
